Laparoscopic removal of the uterus, with morcellation of de-vascularized, dissected tissue under direct visual control.
Removal of uterine fibroids, with controlled coring ("Cut 2") and peeling ("Cut 1") of de-vascularized myomas.
Per FDA guidance (Dec 30, 2020), laparoscopic power morcellators are contraindicated for removal of uterine tissue containing suspected fibroids in patients who are post-menopausal or over 50, or who are candidates for en-bloc tissue removal through the vagina or via a mini-laparotomy incision. Tissue must be devascularized and dissected before morcellation. Not for use where malignancy is known or suspected.
